US military launches ‘self-defence strikes’ targeting Iran

- Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it attacked the United States Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with drones, and an airbase in Jordan with missiles in response to US strikes on southern Iran earlier, state media report.
- The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said it carried out “self-defence strikes” against Iran in response to what it said was the downing by Iranian forces of a US attack helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
