About the author

She writes news and features with a particular focus on the United Nations, climate change and public health. Now based in Melbourne, Australia with Global News Insight, she previously worked as a producer at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio National, as a reporter for the investigative climate change podcast, Drilled, and served as UN Bureau Chief and Correspondent for Inter Press Service (IPS). Lyndal’s work has appeared on Audible Originals, and in the Guardian, the Diplomat and SBS, among others. She has been awarded the UN Correspondents Association prize for reporting on climate change and oceans and a UN Foundation Press Fellowship. In 2024 and 2025, she was part of the Global News Insight teams which won the Edward R Murrow Award for their breaking news coverage of Israel’s war on Gaza and the fall of Syria’s Assad. She was part of the team which was highly commended by the Association for International Broadcasting and won Best Factual Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards for First Eat with Nakkiah Lui, a podcast about Indigenous food systems. The team which produced Damages, a podcast on the rights of nature, won a Covering Climate Now award for Best Audio in 2023.
