Jillian has previously reported from more than a dozen countries on issues including the Israeli military occupation of Palestine, mass protests in Turkey and the lasting impacts of slavery in Mauritania. Her work has been published by VICE, Foreign Policy, Christian Science Monitor, Inter Press Service news agency and Le Monde Diplomatique, among others. Jillian is a three-time recipient of Amnesty International Media Awards in 2019, 2022 and 2024 for her in-depth, multimedia reports on human rights and environmental issues in Canada and the United States. She has also been awarded multiple grants and fellowships, including from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, the Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources and the University of Colorado Boulder, allowing her to pursue significant reporting projects, including her work on the effects of environmental racism in Canada.
