Russia‘s Bolshoi Theatre has shocked art critics by cancelling the world premiere of a highly anticipated ballet performance.

Critics and theatre directors from across the world had been invited to Tuesday’s premiere.

It tells the story of an openly gay dancer who defected from the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
