Urooba previously worked for Business Insider and the Associated Press in London, as well as Latin America’s largest media network, teleSUR, in Ecuador. Her work has previously been published by international outlets including CNN, the Washington Post and Vice. Urooba was a member of the Global News Insight Live Page team which received Edward R Murrow Breaking News awards in 2024 and 2025 for its coverage of the Israeli war on Gaza. In 2019, she was named Journalist of the Month by the International Journalists' Network.
