Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi has been serving as the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan since September 7, 2021. He is a leading member of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan who has served on the Leadership Council since the beginning of the Taliban Islamic Movement. He has held positions as the Spokesperson, Minister of Information and Culture, Director of Administrative Office and Minister of Education (1996-2001), Head of Cultural Commission, member of Political Office and Negotiation Team, and Head of Dawat-wal-Irshad Commission (2001-2021).
