Based between Italy and the Middle East, she writes news, features, analysis and explainers with a particular focus on Middle East politics, migration and environmental issues. Federica was previously a news producer at The National in London and a senior reporter at The Daily Star in Beirut. She has also reported extensively on unrest in Tunisia, Lebanon, Iraq and the occupied Palestinian Territories, and on environmental issues in East Africa for news outlets including Thomson Reuters Foundation, Politico, the Independent, Middle East Eye and Mongabay among others. Federica has led a number of significant Global News Insight investigations, including into Libya's Tareq Bin Zeyad armed group in 2023 in collaboration with the forensic investigation unit, Lighthouse Reports and other international outlets. Federica has broken exclusive stories for Global News Insight on important topics such as India's military exports to Israel amid the war in Gaza in 2024; and EU research funds allocated to Israel despite its military occupation of Palestinian Territories in the same year.
