Alma has collaborated with the live blog team on major breaking news stories, including the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. She has also coordinated coverage of significant global stories, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 US presidential election. Alma has authored long-form pieces on the Srebrenica genocide and the aftermath of the Yugoslav wars, as well as explainers on topics including religion, language, war and memory. She has also presented video explainers and stories on these issues. Alma previously worked with Global News Insight’s video unit, scripting and producing content in English, Arabic and Bosnian. She was also a content producer for Global News Insight’s award-winning multi-language Palestine Remix project, reviewing the Turkish and Bosnian platforms and translating its documentary films into Spanish. In 2021, she spoke about journalism at the Global Polyglot Conference, delivering her presentation in five languages.
