Adia Benton teaches African studies and the anthropology of health, humanitarianism and development at Northwestern University. She is the author of the award-winning book, HIV Exceptionalism: Development through Disease in Sierra Leone, and is writing a book about the 2014-16 West African Ebola outbreak.
